Who this review is for

This is the flagship review for someone who has received an employment agreement from a German employer and has not yet signed. It is particularly useful when you are relocating, encountering German contract conventions for the first time, or negotiating more than salary alone.

What is included

We read the agreement against the facts you provide: role, proposed start date, workplace, compensation discussion and any promises made outside the document. The written issue map covers duties, remuneration, variable pay, working time, overtime, leave, probation, notice, fixed-term wording, confidentiality, intellectual property, side activities and post-employment restrictions where present.

You then receive a 45-minute video consultation. We explain clauses in plain English, distinguish ordinary wording from points worth querying, and help you prepare precise questions for HR.

What is not included

This service does not include court representation, contacting the employer on your behalf, tax or immigration advice, collective bargaining analysis, or certification of translations. If the document raises a dispute or requires formal legal representation, we will recommend seeking a German-qualified lawyer.

How the review proceeds

  1. Initial request. Tell us your signing deadline and the questions already on your mind. Do not include sensitive identity documents.
  2. Scope confirmation. We confirm that the document fits the service, state the fee and arrange secure document transfer.
  3. Written reading. The reviewer marks practical consequences, ambiguities and questions for the employer.
  4. Consultation. We discuss the issue map and your priorities by video call.
  5. Short follow-up. One email within five business days may clarify a point from the completed review.

Preparation and timing

Allow two to three business days after we receive the complete, legible contract. German- or English-language agreements are accepted. Send related bonus plans or referenced policies only if they are available and relevant. Urgent work depends on capacity and is quoted before acceptance.

The outcome

You leave with a structured understanding of what the agreement requires, where the wording differs from your conversations, and which questions to ask before making your decision. No review can guarantee an employer’s response or a particular negotiation result.
